GHSA Championships leading to more girls joining wrestling

Girls joining high school wrestling teams is nothing new, but a change made by the Georgia High School Association in 2019 is helping bring more girls to the mat. In February of 2019 the GHSA held its first all-female state wrestling championships. Champions were crowned in 10 different weight classes.

Eastside and Mary Persons bring young teams, high hopes into playoff Game of the Week

Two teams who dominated opponents, but fell short of their ultimate goals in 2018 will take the field Friday night in the High 5 Sports Game of the Week, with hopes of flipping the script with a host of young players, many of whom never saw the field during their team's respective playoff runs last season. Friday night will mark the first time Eastside and Mary Persons have ever faced each other on the football field.

'Hog Mountain Bowl' to decide region winner

Everyone in Watkinsville and Bogart wants to be a part of the Hog Mountain Bowl this year because undefeated North Oconee (9-0, 3-0 in region) and Oconee County (7-1, 2-0 in region) are playing for the Region 8-AAAA title.
