Georgia lawmakers are meeting in a special session to possibly redraw legislative and congressional district maps following a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on redistricting.

Georgia voters headed to the polls on Tuesday to vote for their candidates in several big races. Billionaire businessman Rick Jackson beat out Burt Jones, Mike Collins won the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate, Greg Dolezal will face Josh McLaurin in the lieutenant governor race, and Tim Fleming defeated Vernon Jones for secretary of state. 

DeKalb Sheriff's deputies and U.S. Marshals captured 26-year-old Devin Anthony in Riverdale. Authorities say the suspect is responsible for a fatal morning shooting at an apartment complex.

Backed on stage by Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat, and District Attorney Fani Willis, Ivory declared that the historic runoff results mark an undeniable, permanent shift in the county's leadership culture.

The general election matchup for Georgia’s second-highest executive office is officially locked into place. The Associated Press has called both the Republican and Democratic primary runoffs for Lieutenant Governor, setting up a high-stakes, November clash between two prominent state senators. On the Republican side, State Senator Greg Dolezal captured the GOP nomination, using an aggressive late-night surge to secure a definitive 54% to 46% victory over former State Senate President Pro Tempore John F. Kennedy.
