A pedestrian was killed Thursday night after being struck by a fleeing vehicle during a police pursuit in DeKalb County, authorities said.

Former special prosecutor Nathan Wade did not appear before the special Senate committee on Friday morning as previously expected. 

The family of Arben Pilici is suing the DeKalb County Police Department over his 2024 in-custody death.

The Department of Homeland Security said the new Oakwood processing facility will help in mission, but some people in the area are upset by the new center.

The family of 49-year-old Arben Pilici has filed a lawsuit against the DeKalb County Police Department, alleging that a welfare check by department tragically escalated into a fatal encounter in 2024. The legal action claims that an officer pinned Pilici to the ground with a chokehold for over eight minutes before placing him face-down and unresponsive in a patrol car, where he ultimately suffocated to death.

Georgia will have to wait a little longer before hearing from former Fulton County special prosecutor Nathan Wade, former boyfriend of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. State senators want to hear more about Wade's role in the election interference case against President Donald Trump.
