North Georgia is starting Tuesday under a blanket of clouds, but don’t expect much in the way of rain to close out September.

North Georgia is in for a taste of fall as breezy conditions usher in drier, cooler air later this week.

One year after Hurricane Helene brought devastating flooding to Buckhead, some residents are finally back in their homes while others are still making costly repairs.

The FOX 5 Storm Team is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Imelda, currently churning near the Bahamas. While the system is not expected to make landfall in the United States, forecasters say it could still bring tropical rains and possible storm surge to parts of South Georgia.

Highs are expected to reach the mid-80s on Sunday, running a few degrees above average for this time of year.

Tropical Depression Nine is just shy of becoming the next named storm of the season as it moves over the Bahamas.

With this year’s hurricane season far from over, residents and emergency officials alike say the lessons from Helene continue to shape how Valdosta prepares for whatever may come next.

"Historic Downtown Globe is currently unsafe, with compromised buildings as well as hazardous chemicals and debris, including propane tanks," Globe city officials posted on Facebook.

The FOX 5 Storm Team is closely tracking Tropical Cyclone Nine, which officially formed Saturday afternoon near Cuba and is expected to strengthen as it moves northward.
