Atlanta police say shots were fired during a chaotic scene at Atlantic Station Saturday evening as hundreds of teens gathered in the area. Officers responded around 7:15 p.m. after reports of fireworks being launched into crowds, later confirming there was also gunfire and damage to at least one business. Police say between 400 and 500 teens were involved, and at least five were detained as officers worked to clear the area. No injuries have been reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Walk for Peace arrived in Trilith early Monday afternoon for a lunch break. Buddhist monks are walking from Texas to Washington DC. They will spend the night tonight in Morrow and will make a stop Tuesday afternoon in Decatur.

The Walk for Peace is making its way through Georgia this week, with Buddhist monks hosting public events in Morrow and Decatur as part of their 2,300-mile journey from Texas to Washington, D.C. The walk promotes unity, compassion, and inner peace across communities. One monk, who was seriously injured in a crash and believed to have lost a limb, has rejoined the group after returning to Atlanta on 12/28/25. Despite his injuries, he continues the walk alongside fellow monks, determined to carry the message of peace forward.

Monday morning started out fairly warm and wet, but temperatures are steadily dropping and it is windy outside too. Tomorrow morning will be much colder. 

A shooting involving the DeKalb County Police Department is under investigation. According to the GBI, an officer shot a 22-year-old man with a gun late Sunday night.
