Thieves target Atlanta fire stations

Security upgrades have taken place at an Atlanta fire station that has been targeted by crooks.

Police tell FOX 5 that thieves hit Fire Station 11 on Fulton Industrial Boulevard twice within the last six months.

A gun, laptops and personal items were stolen.

Officials believe these crooks called in fake emergencies to get firefighters to leave the station before they struck.

In one case, they reported a downed tree on Howell Mill Road and when crews arrived they couldn't find any trees down.

According to AFRD records, in the last six months, Stations 11, 14, and 15 have all been hit twice.
