A couple in Dallas, Texas recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Roy and Kamila Capps met in 1945 in the Czechoslovakian city of Pilsen. Kamila, a Czechoslovakian native, had just been released from a labor camp when she met United States Army soldier Roy Capps at a dance.

Despite the world being at war, and the fact that she didn’t speak English and he didn’t speak Czech, the two fell in love.

“I don’t know how you describe it,” said Roy. “I just really fell in love with her.”

Three months later, through the use of an interpreter, Roy asked Kamila to marry him and now 70 years later they continue to cherish their love.

“God has really blessed me all my life because she’s been a good wife,” said Roy. “She said I was the head of the house, but she’s the neck and turns the head.”

Kamila said it doesn’t feel like it has been 70 years.

The couple spent their first ten years of their married life in Czechoslovakia before settling in northern Texas.
