Supporters react to Clinton conceding race

DECATUR, Ga. - At Thumbs Up Diner in downtown Decatur, Hillary Clinton supporters were eager to finally hear from the defeated presidential candidate. It had been hours since she had conceded the race only to the victor Donald Trump.

“Considering this was her second time around, I wasn’t sure how she would take it. I thought there might even be more emotion, but I think she presented herself well with grace and dignity,” said Dave Bunkley of Woodstock.

A lot of Clinton supporters told FOX 5’s Portia Bruner they are genuinely worried about the nation’s future with the billionaire businessman as Commander in Chief.

“I felt fear, sadness, and a pit in my stomach... like, ‘Oh, gosh, what do are we going to do now?’ He keeps talking about all of these changes he wants to make and I wonder will he listen to anyone first,” said Wesley Sumpter of Stockbridge.

“Since he’s been running, he’s been biased and one sided, that’s not the kind of person you want running this country,” said Quartez Franks of Atlanta.

One Decatur woman was so upset over the election results, she took Wednesday off to cope.

“This is hard for a lot of people because people don’t have a voice still don’t and I think that’s the shame for this country,” said the woman, who asked to remain anonymous.

Patrick Bradley of Macon hopes Americans won’t be permanently scarred by the rancor and bitterness that marked this election cycle. He thinks President-Elect Trump could set the tone of moving forward with what he calls a simple gesture.

“Perhaps even an apology for all the comments he’s made to the different groups of people whom he has hurt,” the history buff told Bruner.

“What you have to do is remember what this country is all about and that the principals of inclusion, so that no matter who is in the White House, our core values will still be the same,” said Bunkley, who was initially a Bernie Sanders supporter.
