Service dogs get free eye exams

Service dogs often serve as eyes for their owners which makes it all the more important to make sure their eyes are healthy.

This week, some metro Atlanta service dogs are getting their eyes checked out.

Dr. Carolina Monk at the Blue Pearl Veterinary Hospital in Atlanta performed free exams for dozens of dogs Monday.

She said it's important for them to have regular exams since eye problems often go undetected.

Monday's eye exams are part of a national program that allows community vets to provide free screenings for service dogs.
