A new trend has seen people posting pictures of semicolons tattooed and drawn on their bodies over the last number of months, usually tagged #SemicolonProject on social media. Founded by Amy Bleuel in 2013, The Semicolon Project is a “faith-based movement dedicated to presenting hope and love for those who are struggling with depression, suicide, addiction and self-injury.”
The project uses the semicolon to remind people living with mental health issues that their story is not yet complete.
