The Gwinnett County School Board met behind closed doors for more than two hours Monday morning considering the appeals of six Parkview High School students who were suspended for all or part of the upcoming year.

The harsh punishments followed accusations of hazing and even sexual assault during a baseball trip to Charleston in June for a tournament.

Younger players claim they were attacked by older players who had gotten keys to their hotel rooms.

The board voted in open session to accept its confidential decisions regarding 5 of the 6 appeals.

Parents are being notified now.

The school board rejected a family lawyer's claim that since the alleged hazing happened in South Carolina, it was not school related.

The sixth appeal will be considered at the school board's next meeting in September.
