Investigators released surveillance video Thursday of two burglary suspects who police said broke into a home and stole $20,000 worth of jewelry.

According to Sandy Springs Police, the crime happened at around 5:30 Saturday morning at a home on Brixham Court. Home surveillance video shows the two men looking through windows, doors, and even pointed a surveillance camera away from them before breaking into the home.

Police said the call originally came in as just a home alarm, but was quickly upgraded to a burglary in progress.

"The homeowner, who was out of town at the time, saw on his security system, two white males breaking into his home, and actually entering one of the back doors," said Sgt. Sam Worsham with the Sandy Springs Police Department.

Officers rushed to the home, but were not able to capture the two burglars.

"Security systems aren't completely foolproof, but they are an additional resource," explained Sgt. Worsham. "With this particular system with a video, the homeowner was able to give us updates and give us more descriptions of the persons. Officers responding would be able to look for those persons leaving. It gives us a lot better chance of actually catching the suspects."

A police report states the men got away with watches, bracelets, and other jewelry stuffed into pillow cases.

Investigators said cases like this serve as a good reminder to homeowners to catalog their valuables.

"A good practice is to take good photographs.  Keep those photographs on hand in the bad chance that it is stolen," said Worsham. "It gives us a good chance to recover it if we have a photograph of it."

The suspects in Saturday's burglary are described as young, white males. One was wearing a t-shirt with the letters "M" and "K" on it.

Anyone who recognizes the man should contact Sandy Springs Police or Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta.
