Preston Lewis was found with a single gunshot wound to the back shortly before 5 a.m. near the intersection of Greenwich and Holderness streets on December 26, 2015. Neighbors said they heard gunshots, but not much else. Detectives said they have no suspects.
Officers with the A.P.E.X. Unit, Street Crimes Unit, and Mounted Patrol Unit took to the streets on Wednesday to try to rustle up any lead. They passed out flyers, knocked on doors, and spoke to residents about the shooting death of the Booker T. Washington High School student.
Last month, Atlanta Police released surveillance video to FOX 5 News showing a black Ford Mustang caught on video not far from where Lewis was killed. Police said they found it nearby shortly after the killing. Detectives traced it back to a report of a stolen vehicle on December 20, 2015, just 6 days before the murder.
So far, none of the clues have led to a suspect or an arrest. Police said they hope their efforts will help bring the family closure.
