The Atlanta Police Department is expanding its ability to monitor criminal activity by adding new cameras at Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza.

Police said they plan to add 235 cameras to the city's video monitoring center. The move is a partnership with retail real estate company Simon.

Atlanta police said this is just the first step in a larger plan to improve safety around the city. In the next two years, police said their goal is to integrate 10,000 cameras throughout Atlanta.
