Officer Says He Had to Threaten City Official with Taser during a Traffic Stop

Attorney Darryl Ferguson helps administer the law, but during one recent traffic incident, the city solicitor wound up on the wrong side of the law.

Atlanta Police say Ferguson was clocked with radar going 20 miles over the speed limit on Campbellton Road on the south side.

The officer claimed Ferguson was hostile when he approached, demanding to know why he had been stopped.

There was a back and forth, as Ferguson allegedly refused to leave his vehicle as ordered. The officer reached inside the car and grabbed the solicitor's arm. According to the account, Ferguson still refused the order to exit the vehicle.

The officer says it was only after he pulled out his Taser did he get cooperation.

The city attorney was taken to the Fulton County Jail on charges of obstruction and driving without a license, along with the speeding violation.

His boss, Raines Carter, placed Ferguson on administrative leave with pay.
