Motorcyclist killed in crash

ATLANTA, Ga. - A motorcyclist was hit and killed by a vehicle on Moreland Avenue and East Confederate on Saturday morning.

According to police, over 50 motorcycles were riding in formation in the left lane on Moreland Avenue. A motorcycle acting as the escort passed the formation in the right hand lane when it collided with another motorcycle.

The victim was ejected from the motorcycle and was run over by another motorcycle.  The victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he died. Three other victims were transported with non-life threatening injuries.

The southbound lanes of Moreland Avenue have been shut down and are expected to re-open in a short amount of time.
