Metro-Atlantans Travel to North Charleston GOP Debate

Some GOP-faithful from metro-Atlanta made the trip to South Carolina Thursday to learn more about the candidates vying to be the Republican presidential nominee.

Ten hopefuls will take part in two debates on the FOX Business Network, including Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio.

Ginger Howard, President of the Buckhead Republicans, landed in North Charleston Thursday morning.  She hopes the debate will help her decide which candidate to vote for in Georgia's March 1 primary.

"I’m going to be looking at all the candidates, hearing what they have to say and just taking it all in," explained Howard.

The former Georgia chair for Rick Perry's presidential campaign, Howard said she has avoided picking a new campaign to support since Perry suspended his efforts in September.

"This kind of thing is my cup of tea," said Howard. "I eat, sleep and breathe politics. So the fact that I have not watched one debate, you don't understand, is huge! I mean, huge!"

Howard owns a clothing boutique in Buckhead and said she is most interested in hearing how the candidates will improve the economy and reduce taxes.  She also wants to hear their plans to improve national security.

Howard stressed that she hopes the candidates will stick to the issues, rather than attack one another.

"I'm so tired of division.  I'm ready to see some unity and I'm going to see who's going to step above the board and not throw a personal attack or hit below the jugular or say something unkind about a group of people or certain people or another candidate.  I just don't like that," she added.

Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush and John Kasich will square off in the debate scheduled for 9 p.m.
