Atlanta police arrested four suspects in an overnight kidnapping early Tuesday morning along Metropolitan Parkway. The search led officers to block a stretch of the road starting around 3 a.m.

Officers said a woman, identified as Deborah Patrick, was kidnapped around midnight Tuesday in East Point.

Patrick's sons told Atlanta police they both received text messages demanding a ransom of $100,000. According to investigators, the suspects were holding Patrick in Atlanta.

Police officers later spotted the suspects' vehicle in Atlanta and began pursuing it. The brief chase ended with a crash at Metropolitan Parkway and Christman Street in southwest Atlanta.

The Georgia Bureau of Instigation said Terenzio McCurty, 23, emerged from the vehicle with a handgun and that's when an officer shot him in the leg. He was arrested and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he's in stable condition.

The GBI said three other suspects were arrested following the crash. John Penceil, 50, and Joshua Fowler, 25, were found near the scene and Demetrius Sims, 43, was located in the area a few hours later.

Patrick, who was pistol-whipped during the kidnapping, was rescued, according to police. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation, but police described her injuries as minor. She was treated and discharged later that afternoon.

Police said they recovered a weapon at the crash scene.

An Atlanta Fire Department ladder truck was brought to the scene to help in the search. There is a wooded area with tall trees in the search area.

Because of the road closure, MARTA buses were re-routed at the intersection of Metropolitan Parkway and Shelton Avenue.

The search continues for a fifth suspect.
