Kermit and Miss. Piggy announce split
On the heels of what has seemed like a summer of celebrity divorces: Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock, and Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, comes another high profile couple calling it quits - Kermit and Miss. Piggy.
The pair released similar statements on their Facebook pages. But Kermit said it was Piggy who called it quits.
“After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, we have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship. We will continue to work together on television and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter … unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding.”
According to Entertainment Weekly the duo are now dating other people. Kermit has been getting pretty serious with Denise, a marketing exec at ABC, while Piggy was last known to be dating former That ’70s Show actor Topher Grace.
Of course there have also been several couples that have been rumored to be splitting but are still as rock solid as ever. We're talking about Will and Jada Pinket Smith and the long time FOX animated couple Homer and Marge Simpson.
Will took to Facebook to shut down those rumors saying:
"Under normal circumstances, I don’t usually respond to foolishness. (Because it’s contagious) But, so many people have extended me their ‘deepest condolences’ that I figured – ‘What the hell… I can be foolish, too!’
So, in the interest of redundant, repetitious, over & over-again-ness… Jada and I are…
NOT GETTING A DIVORCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! : -) I promise you all – if I ever decide to divorce my Queen – I SWEAR I’ll tell you myself! #Dumb? People Should Have to Wear Scarlet D’s."
In the case of Homer and Marge, the lovey couple released a rebuttal video earlier this summer to squash any divorce rumors
