Three apartment homes and two cars bear the marks of bullet holes following a brazen drive-by shooting Thursday evening.

Douglasville Police said an unknown number of suspects opened fire on the apartment homes and may have been driving a black, 90s-model Ford Explorer.

“At first I thought it was just firecrackers,” said one resident who did not want to be identified, "and the next thing I know the mirror behind me exploded and I was really just so stunned."

She said many bullets flew through the walls of her apartment, leaving lots of damage behind.

By some miracle all lives here spared and no one was even injured. The shooting happened near the intersection of Duncan and Melrose Streets.

"That's crazy because they were definitely trying to kill somebody,” said another resident who wished to remain anonymous. She said many neighbors are fearful the shooters may return.

"I don't know that I feel safe,” said the woman, “and I don't know that it’s the type of neighborhood I thought it was."

Authorities said the attack probably wasn't random. There is a $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction.
