Gwinnett Officer Busts… a Move?

He works to bust bad guys, but a Gwinnett County Police officer is getting a lot of attention for busting a move.

Officer Kevin Martinez, a 5-year veteran of the force, was at the Stone Mountain Community Center grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony on October 17.

Officer Martinez was there to discuss safety and crime prevention topics from the different types of crime, residential and business security, physical security, identifying criminal behavior and reporting suspicious activities.

During the celebration ceremony, several individuals started dancing in the ‘Hit the Quan’ dance, while Officer Martinez joined in and it was all captured by YKG (Young Kids Generation) Musiq group.  The group posted the video on their Facebook page and has quickly become a social media sensation.

“The video speaks for itself, I can’t do it. I don’t have the skills to ‘hit the quan’,” said Corporal Deon Washington. Corporal Washington told FOX 5, “It’s important for us to reach out to young youth in an arena of hip hop and other forms of art.”

Officer Kevin Martinez helps to educate the community about crime trends and prevention tips they can utilize, to deter crime, along with, working with a variety of senior citizen groups, business associations, and over 100 neighborhoods.
