Groundbreaking ceremony for affordable housing facility in Atlanta

ATLANTA - Atlanta city leaders celebrated the groundbreaking on an affordable housing facility near the Atlanta University Center.

Phase one of construction is now underway at Ashley at Scholars Landing.

Developers said this initial phase includes a multi-family construction, which is made possible by a $30 million choice neighborhoods grant from housing and urban development.

The mayor said the 135-unit facility is in a central location in the neighborhood.

The mayor said this is just a piece of her bigger plan, to redevelop and revitalize Atlanta's Westside.
