Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon for a murdered pregnant mother.

Nakita Holland was two weeks away from her due date when she was shot and killed in her Carrollton home over the 4th of July weekend. She was 36-years-old.

Investigators think she was shot through a rear window.

Tyrail Wynn, 25, was arrested last week and has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, burglary, feticide and cruelty to children. Holland's family says he is the father of the unborn baby, who they named "Rider." The baby was due on Wednesday, July 15.

"You know, the family's very, very upset about it and I mean, it's a horrendous crime, you know, to take the life of two people," said Captain Chris Dobbs, Carrollton Police Department.

"It hit me, but you know, I'm staying strong. I got to." said Marlon Johnson, the victim's cousin. "It just hurt. You know, anybody lose a close relative and a special person in their lives--and she been through it, man."

Family members say they tried to check on Holland and when they couldn't get a hold of her, they got the landlord to open the door.  After finding her dead, the family contacted police.

Holland lived in the apartment with her 2-year-old daughter.

"The bad part of this whole situation is there's kids involved and what this 2-year-old child went through probably for 24 hours, you know, you just hope that, you know, she does not remember anything later in life that could, you know, affect her. That's what bothers me the most." said Capt. Dobbs.

Detectives think the child was there when her mother was killed, and likely was in the apartment alone ever since.  The little girl wasn't harmed and she's being cared for by family members.

"To be honest, I don't... Honestly, I never know it was a person with a heart that cold. So, I can't even think of what type of person did that, to be honest,"said Johnson. "If they heard any gunshots, if they heard anything in that area, saw anything suspicious, you know, we're asking them to call."
