A suspect trying to escape police repeatedly rammed an Atlanta Police squad car early Wednesday morning.

Investigators said an officer saw a car speeding on Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. The officer later saw what he thought was the same car at a nearby gas station. As the officer ran a check on the vehicle's temporary tag, the suspect came out of the store. Police said he jumped, put the car in reserve and slammed into the patrol car's driver side 4 or 5 times.

The impact moved the officer's car enough for the suspect to get out. The fleeing car also hit another vehicle as it left the scene.

The officer wasn't hurt, but the squad car suffered extensive damage.

Police found the suspect's car about half a mile away on a dead end of Azlee Place. They said the driver took off on foot. Police searched on foot, but no arrests have been made.
