2 hospitalized after house fire in Rockdale County on Tuesday morning

Firefighters responded to a house fire in Rockdale County on Tuesday morning.

The house is located in the 1700 block of Iris Drive SW in Conyers.

The house appeared to be fully involved when SKYFOX 5 flew over it around 7:40 a.m.

"I saw a lot of smoke coming from one of the houses next door to our facility. And we tried to come down one of the access roads and we were told by one of the police officers that the road was actually blocked off," said Darius Bates, who works nearby.

The fire department told FOX 5 that two people who were in the home were transported to a local hospital. No other details were given.

Traffic in the area was snarled for hours.

"What would have been a two-minute drive turned into a 30–40-minute walk," said Bates.

Crews spent several hours putting out the blaze.

"It was a little alarming for me due to the fact that it took so long to put that fire out like over a few hours," Bates.

Investigators say the fire was electrical in nature.
