Duluth daycare worker charged with child cruelty
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police charged a Gwinnett County daycare worker with felony child cruelty after she allegedly hit a little boy with a belt.
According to a Duluth Police Department report, a man picked his 4-year-old son up from Childcare Network on Howell Ferry Road at around 4:30 p.m. March 26 and felt his son was exhibited "unusual behavior."
"He asked his son if something [was] wrong and his son told him his teacher hit him using a belt," the police report states.
Police said the boy then showed his father his lower back and he saw a bruise. The man notified the daycare director who said she would investigate. The next day, according to the police report, the director fired 51-year-old Nadine Jones.
Duluth Police opened their own investigation after the boy's father reported the incident on March 28.
Monday, police obtained a warrant for Jones' arrest. She turned herself in to the Gwinnett County Jail and was released on $5,700 bond the same
