Peachtree City police have trained its officers to carry tourniquets to help accicent victims.
PEACHTREE CITY, Ga - One local police department said it was now carrying life-saving-equipment right on their officers’ gun belts.
The Peachtree City Police department said all of its officers were now carrying tourniquets. It was in idea they took from the military where tourniquets are standard equipment carried by every soldier in the field.
Officers said they believe applying a tourniquet to an accident victim who was badly bleeding would help save more lives when seconds counted.
The officers are also trained to apply the tourniquet on themselves if they are the ones needing emergency medical treatment.
