Community activists are calling for a Cobb County police officer to be fired after controversial comments he made during a traffic stop.

Dashboard camera video showed Officer Maurice Lawson, who is white, making what critics call racially-charged comments to driver Brian Baker, who is black.

On Thursday, Baker joined a handful of community activists at Cobb County Police Headquarters to ask for Lawson to be fired.

Baker is a Clayton County Middle School teacher, and filed a complaint right after the November incident. Cobb County police reassigned Lawson, pending an investigation.

But community activists said that is not enough, especially since there were two other officers present at the time of the exchange. They delivered a letter to the police chief, asking that the department do the right thing.

Despite what happened to him, Baker said when his students ask him about the incident and his thoughts on officers, he said he still believes there are good officers out there.
