California WWII veteran adopts senior dog

LOS ANGELES (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A decorated war veteran saves the day for an elderly dog.

George Johnson has become a hero to a dog named Sam.

The 93-year-old navy veteran saved the 13-year old white German shepherd, who was just days away from being euthanized because of his age.

Sam’s previous owner could no longer care for him anymore.

So, the California veteran came to the rescue and said when he saw Sam it was love at first sight.

Now, he and his best friend can spend their golden years together.
