Investigators are trying to piece together the motive behind a murder in Covington.

Pamela Harmon, 57, of Covington, a longtime employee of Goodwill was discovered dead outside the donation center on Oglesby Ridge Road around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Her body was spotted near her vehicle by a passerby.

After reviewing surveillance video and speaking to Goodwill employees, witnesses and family members, police named former Goodwill employee, Brandon Lamar Johnson, 28, as the key suspect.

Authorities say Johnson had some sort of feud towards Harmon after she filed a complaint against him and he was transferred to another Goodwill center.

A search was underway for the suspect when police learned just before 5 p.m. that Johnson was shot and killed in a shootout with state troopers in West Virginia.

Police are not discussing a possible motive for the shooting. Harmon had worked for Goodwill for more than a decade
