Volunteers from all across Atlanta joined with a local nonprofit to help fight hunger.

On Saturday, Caring For Others Inc. hosted its Feeding Atlanta Communities food distribution event, where it gave away food to needy Georgians.

The group said that provided fresh meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits, dry and canned goods to residents "in need of a helping hand" on a first-come, first-served basis.

Volunteers included Georgia State University College of Law students and alumni.

The group said that it wanted to distribute food to 2,500 households.

This is an annual event for the group, which started in 2001.
