Food Bank Community Gardens Project Grows Healthy Eater:  It’s easy to take the availability of fresh produce for granted, but in some communities, fresh fruits and vegetables are virtually nonexistent.  That’s where the Atlanta Community Food Bank comes in, with its Community Gardens project.

The ACFB Community Gardens project serves a network of nearly 150 gardens in neighborhoods around Metro Atlanta, providing resources to help make those gardens a rich source of food.  Those resources include experts to help with organizing and planting, manpower to help maintain the garden, and even seeds and necessary tools.  Almost all of the food produced in the community gardens stay in that community, and is used by the men and women who helped grow it.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning in McDonough at one of those community gardens, learning a little bit more about the benefit of starting a community garden and the help provided by Atlanta Community Food Bank.
