Monroe Police said a stray bullet hit a 7-year-old boy while he was getting ice cream from an ice cream truck.

Police arrested Montavious Deshun Harris for the shooting, and said he started firing at an individual during an argument. Officers said one bullet bounced off a car, and hit Jamon Davis in the foot.

“I felt something hit my leg,” said Davis, who is recovering at home after multiple trips to the hospital for his injuries.

“He said, ‘Mom... I’ve been stung,’” said mother Anita Wilson, who witnessed her son limp back into the house.

Monroe Police worked to cheer up the little boy returning from the hospital, with a visit from Batman, also known as Lt. Darryl Powell. Batman surprised Davis with a number of toys from his favorite superhero. The video has received thousands of views on YouTube and FOX5Atlanta.com.

“Happy... because [Batman] came to see me,” Davis said about the visit.

Wilson said she is grateful for support from officers.

“They’ve been awesome. They’ve been checking on him, making sure he’s comfortable,” she said.

While Davis recovers, Wilson said she plans to move from the neighborhood, as her son no longer feels safe there.
