Truck slides off icy road into creek

PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. - The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office provided video to FOX 5 that they said was a good example of what can happen on the icy mountain roads.

In that video, you can see a pickup truck that slid off an icy road Wednesday and ended upside down in a creek.

The driver is okay.  Deputies are encouraging motorists to use extra precautions, or even better, stay home if possible.

Schools in Pickens County were closed again Wednesday.

The main roads in Pickens County and Jasper were dry and passable. The higher elevations still had  some trouble spots.

Along the roadsides, compact cars were lined up  in makeshift parking lots until road conditions improved.
