Thieves hit 8 businesses in overnight crime spree
ATLANTA - In some locations, smash and grab thieves went door to door looking to grab cash or anything they could cart away in less than ninety seconds.
They broke into eight stores, ranging from a workout salon, to a physical therapy shop to a cleaners.

Even when merchants found nothing of much value was taken, they still were left with a bill for a new door. That can cost $600 to $700, which puts a dent in the coffers of a small business.
Atlanta Police promise to shift manpower around so more officers can check on merchants overnight.
Major Van Hobbs, the Buckhead commander, has a suggestion. He said store managers should hide the cash register or if it is too heavy to move, leave the drawer open to show there is no money in it.
