Teacher saves student's life

Not all teachers go to school just to teach. So many of them will go the extra mile for their students. And that's exactly what Nick Garcia did. He saved one of the student's lives at Teasley Middle School in Cherokee County.

Principal Dr. Susan Zinkil said Mr. Garcia successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on Victoria Cantrell when she started choking during lunch. 

It was because of Mr. Garcia's quick thinking and knowledge of lifesaving techniques that Victoria and her parents were able to thank him and present him with an award during a faculty meeting.

Victoria's mother said, “Words cannot express the gratitude that I and our family felt when learning what all took place."
