Some residents of a Southeast Atlanta apartment complex say they're so terrified, they don't want to sleep in their own homes.  Monday one of their neighbors was shot and killed by an intruder inside his apartment at the Alexan EAV on Metropolitan Avenue.

"I heard the gunshots ring out. The next thing I heard was a blood curdling scream," says Judah Swilley.  He says it could have happened to anyone.  The guy just happened to pick that particular apartment.

An emergency meeting was called Tuesday night by Atlanta City Council member Natalyn Archibong.  Dozens of residents met with police.  The murder comes on the heels of several burglaries, and residents want to know what can be done to stop the violence.

Police assured resident they are working several good leads. "There's a sizable amount of evidence we're processing and I believe we're going to find this guy," Deputy Chief Darryl Tolleson told the crowd.

Police are trying to track down a man caught on surveillance at the complex just before the murder. Investigators want to know who he is and if he knows anything about the crime.

While residents say they're not going to rest easy until this murder is solved,  they say after talking to police they feel like they're not alone.  "At least they're taking this seriously, it affects the entire community, not just our complex," says Swilley.
