Volunteers in Alaska saved the life of a polar bear that had been trapped in a whale net.

A guide took a photo of the bear while leading a group of tourists on an expedition to a barrier island. The guide said the bear was so tangled that he was lying in the same spot for several days.

Experts thought the bear's chances of survival were slim. But a group of volunteers starting working to free the polar bear. It ran off and got into the ocean before it was completely free. But the volunteers used boats to track down the animal, bring it back to shore and finish freeing it.
