New water meters for DeKalb County customers

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County residents have suffered through the problem of water bills charging hundreds or even thousands more than they should be for years.

But now, new meters are being installed, and the county is hoping it will put an end to most of the issues.

The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners approved a settlement with the company that manufactures the meters.

Under the agreement, the company will pay for the cost and installation of more than 47,000 meters to replace those with defects.

The meters will be installed over the next two years.
