After months of being away from his family, a military dad made a surprise visit to his son’s school in Conyers.

Jaden, a second grader at Lorraine Elementary School, had no idea his father was coming to his class—or was even in town.

His dad, Second Lieutenant Steven Jackson, has been in flight school with the United States Air Force for the past two years. He said he hadn’t seen his son in several months.

“I’m just excited to see his reaction, he said. “He’s kind of shy.”

Second Lt. Jackson said his last-minute arrival was unexpected, but much needed.

“I just got in last night. I wanted to surprise him for lunch and he has a big baseball game tomorrow and I can get to finally attend a game,” he said.

Once Jaden spotted his dad, he immediately started waving and appeared to be in complete shock.

The two hugged each other and, when asked if he was happy to see his dad, Jaden simply nodded and said “yes.”
