Low tire leads to slider stealing car in Buckhead

A motorist said she thought the Buckhead neighborhood where she stopped to put air in a tire was safe.

What she did not know is someone was watching her -- a slider.

Toreya Shea says she pulled into a gas station on Piedmont Road. It was after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

She left her car running, not because she was trying to keep the cabin warm. The reason, Shea explained, she wanted to simultaneously check the computer in her vehicle for an indication of how much air to put in.

A few seconds was all it took for someone to leave a vehicle that had pulled alongside and slide into the driver's seat. Both cars sped away.

Shea said she was frightened but also relieved the criminals had quickly gone.

But they did not have her Porsche Panamera for very long.

The tire that was low went completely flat. The thieves went into the trunk searching for a spare but did not find one. The ride was over.
