Police said a pair of armed robbers broke into a mother’s home while she walked her children to school and ambushed her when she came back, attacking her.

Dunwoody Police said the suspects were cause by security camera as they crawled through a back window of a Dunwoody Glen apartment unit early Wednesday morning. Investigators said they then waited for the young mother of three to return home from the school bus stop.

“As soon as she walked into the kitchen, they savagely attacked her,” said Officer Mark Stevens, spokesman for the Dunwoody Police Department.

Officer Stevens said the taller man seen in the photos, whose face was covered, had a small black gun. Police hope someone will recognize his star pattern sweatpants. The other man, with the full beard, had a knife and a metal pipe. According to Stevens, both were involved in the initial assault.

“They struck [her] in the face with the gun, with theirs fist. She had several lacerations on her face. But she put up quite a fight. She kept them from hurting her even more than they did,” Stevens said.

The images were taken from a security system inside the victim’s home off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. She was too upset to talk to FOX 5 News, but Officer Stevens said she fought off one man for nearly ten minutes, while the other searched for cash and valuables throughout the apartment.

The victim eventually got away from her attackers and ran out the front door. The robbers fled with a large safe and other valuables. Worried neighbors are wondering who the next target could be and hope the men are arrested soon.

“For someone with a criminal mind, if they get away with it once, then they know they can do it again and the next time it may not come out as well. So, if someone knows something or saw something or knows who they are, they should help her out and tell police,” said the victim's neighbor, Yulanda Dyer.

Anyone with information should contact the Dunwoody Police Department.
