A sad update to a story about a deer that was left injured in the front yard of a Fulton County resident for more than 12 hours.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources told FOX 5 News the deer’s injuries were too severe and they were forced to put down the buck.

The buck was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night. Michael Russell, the owner of the home in front of which the deer was hit, said he tried to help the buck and searched for an agency that was willing to pick it up for treatment.

The incident prompted some Fulton County officials to start a review of their procedures for helping wildlife in urban and response time.
