Caught on dashcam: suspects lead officer on wild chase

Dashcam video from a Conyers Police officer shows a vehicle with two robbery suspects driving wildly in and out of traffic, reaching speeds of a hundred miles an hour or more.

Police searched for robbers, following the hold-up of the Wells Fargo Bank off of Dogwood Drive. Corporal Shyra Hardwick told FOX 5, she spotted a vehicle with two men in masks, and followed them.

Hardwick is being credited for helping officers and deputies find and catch the men.

"He wanted to get away from the police. He drove very reckless," Hardwick said, who was concerned the fleeing vehicle would hit other cars, and the people inside were possibly armed.

Hardwick followed the suspects closely for miles to give fellow officers and Rockdale deputies a location for the suspects, and eventually veered off the road after a sharp turn. Other officers continued the pursuit, for a total chase length of 13 miles.

After the suspects hit a vehicle and deputies performed a PIT maneuver, the suspects eventually stopped their vehicle at Smoke Creek Parkway in Gwinnett County, police said.

Police said the FBI is also investigating the robbery and the suspects.
