Fire crews battling a blaze in Cobb County have discovered a body near the ashes.

Officials told FOX 5 the discovery happened around 1 a.m. Sunday near the Regency Inn on the 600 block of Cobb Parkway in Marietta.

According to Marietta police, the fire actually started in a field behind the inn and burnt 2 acres of land.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire before any buildings were hit. After the fire was put out, crews discovered a man's body in the field. The body has now been identified as 53-year-old Marietta resident Mark Foster.

So far, police say they're not sure if the man died from the fire or was dead before the blaze. Investigators say there are no signs of fowl play and it appears to be a tragic accident.
