The Atlanta middle school student who was rushed to the hospital after ingesting a “foreign substance” was back home Thursday, according to school officials.

The 8th grader from Young Middle School was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to Atlanta Fire and Rescue. Officials are looking into the possibility the substance was Xanax.

School officials said that child faces disciplinary action and Atlanta Public Schools police have not yet said if the child will face any criminal charges.

A second student was taken to the hospital to be checked out, but was release later that night. That child and two other students were found not to have ingested any substance by medical professionals.

Firefighters originally reported the four middle school students were rushed to the hospital after “injecting” themselves with a substance, but later clarified the number of students and that the substance was ingested, not injected.

Officials said the students were questioned after exhibiting atypical behavior.
