Braves players lend a helping hand

They gave their all on the field this season and now two Braves infielders are giving, even more, this holiday season.

Freddie Freeman and Charlie Culberson recently visited Best Friends Pet Adoption Center to lend a helping hand.

"Whatever they want us to do," Charlie Culberson said. "Play with the cats, walk the dogs, clean up. Whatever we can do to help."

Freddie, Charlie, their wives, and Freddie's son got a quick tour of the shelter, then it was off to work.

"I'm a huge animal person because of my mom," Freddie Freeman said. "You get opportunities in the offseason to give back and that's what we are trying to do."

First, the two played with the cats.

"I haven't seen my wife in a while," Freeman said. "I have a feeling we may be walking out of here with a new cat."

Then it was off to walk the dogs and before they headed out for the day, Charlie and Freddie got some down time to play fetch with the pups.

The whole experience Charlie says was a great reminder for all of us to give back, not only during the holidays, but throughout the entire year.

"I think we forget when it's not the holiday season," Culberson said. "We need to do it year round. This has opened my eyes to do more stuff like this throughout the year."
