The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has pulled its public health alert about bags of dinosaur-shaped nuggets sold in Walmart stores.

On Monday, the USDA retracted its warning about possible lead contamination in packages of Walmart Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets with a "Best If Used By" date of "Feb 10 2027."

The backstory:

The USDA issued the original alert on April 1, 2026, after routine surveillance by the New York State Department of Public Health indicated elevated trace levels of lead. After issuing the alert, state health officials and the product’s maker, Dorada Foods, conducted further testing, which found no elevated levels of lead, and determined the original test was a false positive.

What they're saying:

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service explained that the original alert about a potential risk was issued because the chicken nuggets are commonly eaten by children. 

Officials now say the product does not pose a public health concern.
