VIDEO: Thief snatches customer's purse at Buckhead restaurant

ATLANTA - A skillful quiet thief was captured on security video taking a purse from a customer dining at a Buckhead restaurant.

She had no idea what was happening.

Allison Daniels wrapped the strap to her purse around the back of the chair that she was sitting on. An unidentified man saw it, took a moment to pause behind the patron and lifted the pocketbook.

He calmly kept walking.

Atlanta police call the incident a bold crime of opportunity.

An industry spokesperson for Georgia restaurants says a good conversation should not get in the way of keeping watch on belongings. Karen Bremer says there is a device women can purchase that secures a purse to a restaurant table.

The victim, Daniels, says she felt violated realizing after watching the security video the thief took the purse while she was sitting there.
