Protesters have gathered Saturday morning to express their outrage over a South Fulton gas station’s refusal to help decrease crime at the business to make customers feel safe.

"Please don't give your business to this gas station," Helen Willis said. "You're life is in jeopardy you may die."

Organizers say there have been two murders at the Chevron gas station, located at 3565 Roosevelt Highway, in College Park. On October 7th, Kenneth Oglesby was shot and killed while he was pumping gas and, in 2003, an officer was gunned down in the parking lot. His wife came out Saturday to support the boycott.

"If security had been in place my husband may still be alive," Robyn McDonald said. "I want to prevent this from happening to other families."

Organizers say they have asked the owners to install security cameras and/or hire armed guards to protect the business and its customers, but the station owners have refused to do so. As a result, a protest is scheduled at the station between 10 a.m and 2 p.m.

"It makes me sad because people just want to buy some gas then they've been killed and hurt," Eric Robert Johnson III said.

"If there's no response and they ignore us then we will take further action and may boycott this gas station or others with high crime," Jordan said.

According to a flyer, the location makes over $1 million from the community and protestors say their refusal to protect that same community is “unacceptable.”

“Let’s refuse to do business here and take our business elsewhere,” the flyer read. “Our community, your community deserves businesses that care about the community!”

FOX 5 reached out to the manager of Chevron. They declined an interview.
